The skies opened halfway through, but nobody went home unhappy. Walk three was one for the books.
Our third Mommy & Me Nature Walk started the way we love — families arriving, little ones full of energy, and that familiar buzz of a group ready to take on the trails together. The morning session brought out 47 families, and from the first step onto the path, the energy was exactly what we’d hoped for.
Then, halfway through the walk, the skies had other plans. The rain came down in buckets — fast, heavy, and completely unannounced. We moved everyone to shelter, waited it out, and eventually made the call to head back to the starting point together.
What struck us was the mood. Not one person seemed bothered. There was laughter under umbrellas, moms sharing space with strangers who’d quickly become familiar faces, and children who barely registered the rain because they were too busy splashing in it. The spirit of the group never dropped for a second.
We had to cancel the afternoon session out of an abundance of caution, and we’re grateful for the understanding shown by those families. Before the morning group had even made it back to the gate, people were already saying they’re coming to the next one. That says everything.
Walk three is done. Rain and all, we wouldn’t change a thing.
